More good news from an Alternative Gifts International  partner agency:

This note was just received from Karen Carr, Director of Community Coalition for Haiti (CCH).   Their current project is #34, Converting Waste to Charcoal.

“I was just in Haiti to visit the school and family gardens that CCH with the help of AGI implemented following the hurricanes last year in Bailly.  Truly a tremendous success....many of these villages with over 200 family and community gardens have been eating vegetables (like tomatoes, peppers, bak choy, lettuce, eggplant, okra) for the very first time over the last year, selling them in the markets, and vastly improving the nutrition of their children and families.  They have established seed and tool banks along with micro credit programs to sustain improved food security for the long term.  Combined with the reintroduction of the Creole Pig funded by AGI, this desperately poor region in the North is well on their way towards self reliance and improved lives

. .  ..wanted you to be aware of the tremendous difference AGI is making in Haiti....wait til you see how they are combining recycling with reforestation....fabulous!”
